Any student of Milford High School, who is passing all classes, may apply to be an AV assistant. Minimum commitment is one period for one semester for which the student earns 1/4 credit. All assistants go on a field trip near the end of each semester. Application forms are available from the director.
Some skills that a successful assistant learns:
 * Care and handling of AV cables, cable and connector identification
 * Video tape operations: bulk erasing, vcr programming, program review
 * Equipment: signout, care and repair, scheduling
 * Soldering: safety precautions, equipment use, de-soldering
 * Camera operations: tripod setup and use, focus, iris, manual vs auto
 * Post-production: logging tapes, character generation, simple edits
 * Audio systems: equipment selection, setup, use, breakdown
 * Simple web page
